PROJECT ARCHIVES:
Spring Grove Hospital, Smith Building
Catonsville, Maryland
Arc Environmental, Inc. was contracted by the Maryland Department of General Services to perform a basic indoor air quality assessment and microbial assessment of the Smith Building located at the Spring Grove Hospital Center in Catonsville, MD.
Mold growth was visually observed on the suspended ceiling tiles and grid system, gypsum board wall material, HVAC diffusers and light fixtures throughout the building. The preliminary assessment indicated that high levels of humidity in the air dispersed by the HVAC system was likely to have caused mold to grow during the summer months or periods of high relative humidity. Tape lift and air sampling confirmed that mold was located on building components throughout the building.
Arc provided design specification and drawings for the remediation of the mold throughout the building as well as a design specification for cleaning the duct system. A cost estimate for the remediation and duct cleaning was prepared for the Owner.
Arc also performed Contractor oversight, visual and air clearance of each phase of the eleven phase abatement of the Smith Building following remediation of mold-impacted material by the abatement contractor.
Based on both visual observations and air sampling data, Arc Environmental concluded that the post remediation sampling criteria had been met. The project was completed almost two months ahead of schedule.
